How to tell which mail service a linux server is using

Mail Services:
SMTP (Sends/receives email between email servers)
POP/IMAP (Users retrieve/view email from server)

SMTP Services:
Postfix
EXIM

POP/IMAP Services:
Courier
Dovecot

Webmail Clients:
Atmail
Squirrelmail
RoundCube


Step 1: Discovery

Are any services listening for connections?

25 - SMTP Port
110 - POP Port
143 - IMAP Port
587 - SMTP Port (common alternative)

netstat -nap | grep '25\|110\|143\|587' | grep 'LISTEN'

root@server /: netstat -nap | grep '25\|110\|143\|587' | grep 'LISTEN'
